I'm searching for a comfortable chair for long coding sessions in my small home office. While I know many people recommend Herman Miller chairs, I'm looking for more affordable alternatives. Last time, I tried a foam chair but it arrived with a stain and only had a 6-month warranty, so I'd like something better this time. What chairs do you all use that help keep you comfy during those long hours of coding? I'd really appreciate any recommendations!

I tried a bunch at IKEA, and I settled on the STYRSPEL gaming chair. It fits my tiny home nicely and has been comfy for over a year!
I used to sit on a folding chair from a garage sale and it was a mistake. My back started cracking every time I got up! Definitely time to upgrade to something more ergonomic!
Haha, that's a convincing argument for a better chair!
I've had the Autonomous ErgoChair Pro for over 5 years and it's been fantastic! No back pain and I use it daily. It's worth it if you adjust it to fit properly!
Switching from a gaming chair to the ErgoChair Pro was a game-changer for me!
Did you choose the mesh or foam seat?
Consider a refurbished Steelcase Leap V2! I got mine from Crandall Office and it's like brand new. It's a solid ergonomic choice, and I’ve seen many people say good things about it too!
Make sure it fits your body type though. It works great for average builds.
Seconding this! I got a refurb and it's a total life-changer for back pain.
If you want to save money, look for a used Herman Miller Aeron! I've had mine for nearly 8 years and it’s still going strong. Replacement parts are easy to find if needed, and they're comfortable for long stints at the desk!
Thinking about one! Does it fit easily into your car for pickup?
You might want to check out the Lazy Boy ergonomic mesh-back chair. It's affordable and comfortable too! If you want something that's structurally sound, avoid foam chairs as they tend to break down quicker during long use.
I relate! I used to sit on dining chairs and they were torture after 15 minutes.
