Hey everyone! I'm looking to install a Linux distro on an external HDD, but I'm totally new to Linux. I'm a gaming YouTuber and have a lot of tasks I handle, and while I love Windows, I'm finding it a bit slow for my needs. So, I want to test out some Linux options on my external HDD. Here are my specs: Intel i5-6500 CPU at 3.20GHz, 8GB RAM, and a 64-bit OS. Any suggestions would be super appreciated!

Fedora with KDE is another solid choice! It's very customizable and provides a lot of tools for your work. Plus, it looks pretty sleek if you're into aesthetics!
I recommend going with Linux Mint with the Cinnamon desktop. It's stable, easy to set up, and great for what you need. Plus, it's user-friendly for beginners!
Keep in mind that running Linux from an external HDD might not give you the best performance, especially if you're coming from an SSD. Have you considered trying a virtual machine on Windows? You could create a small VM to test different distros without the hassle of external drives!
That's an interesting idea! I hadn't thought about a VM. What advantages does that have over running it directly from the HDD?
