I recently turned on my old PC and it said 'Fixing (C:)', which I understand means it was repairing a damaged part of my hard drive. It successfully booted into Windows after about 20 minutes, and all my files are accessible. I've ordered a new SSD and HDD to replace the failing drive, but I'm worried about using the PC in the meantime. I want to back up some artwork to a cloud service but I'm afraid that might cause further damage. What's the best course of action here?

It's great that you could boot into Windows and access your files! However, I recommend backing up your important data as soon as possible. Since the fix might have been related to the file system and not necessarily the hard drive failing, it's still good to be cautious. You might want to look into making an image of your drive before trying any recovery on it.
I wouldn't stress too much, but you should definitely save your data urgently. Every time you power it on, it could be risking more damage. Focus on that backup before anything else!
Exactly! Just a precaution, you know? Better safe than sorry!
