How to Run Windows XP Persistently in a VM or Container?

I'm looking to run Windows XP persistently in either a virtual machine or a Docker container, alongside my main operating system. I don't care what the primary OS is — it could be OS X, Linux, or Windows — I just want the easiest way to achieve my goal of having Windows XP working without interruptions. Additionally, it's important for me to easily transfer files between the Windows XP instance and the host OS. I'm not super familiar with virtualization, so any guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! (And just to address the 'why' — let's just say I have my reasons, and it's not worth diving into the details about XP's security issues.)

A straightforward solution is to use Windows 11 Pro with Hyper-V as your host operating system. You can run XP as a virtual machine using it. Make sure to enable SMB 1.0 on your Windows 11 machine, and set up a shared folder to easily transfer files between the two systems. It's simple and effective!

That sounds great! I never thought running XP would be this easy. Thanks for the tip!
