Help Needed for Upgrading My PC: First-Time Builder Here!

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my PC for the first time in a while and I'm feeling a bit lost. I mainly use my computer for gaming, usually sticking to titles that aren't too demanding like League of Legends and Civilization, but I also enjoy some FPS games now and then. In the past, I used to stream, and I'd love to get back into that, but I think my CPU just isn't cutting it for running Discord, OBS, and a game simultaneously.

My friend suggested I upgrade my processor to a Ryzen 5 7600, along with a B850 motherboard and 32GB of Corsair Vengeance memory. My budget is around $500, but I'm flexible if I find a really good deal or if something is outdated. I've spotted some deals on CPUs like the i9-14900K, but I'm not really sure if that's a good choice since I've heard mixed reviews.

Here's what I'm currently working with:
- **CPU**: Intel Core i5-8600K
- **Motherboard**: Asus TUF Z370-Plus Gaming II
- **Memory**: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4-3000
- **Storage**: Samsung 860 Evo 1TB SSD
- **Video Card**: EVGA GTX 1080 8GB
- **Power Supply**: EVGA 850 GQ 850W

Could anyone provide suggestions on the best upgrades? Also, is DDR4 still considered fine? And would 16GB be enough for gaming and streaming? Thanks a ton!

Upgrading to a Ryzen 5 7600 is definitely a solid choice, especially if you want to handle streaming better. Your friend’s recommendation for the motherboard and RAM sounds good too. Just keep in mind that with a $500 budget, both your CPU and GPU could really use an upgrade since the GTX 10 series is being phased out.

If you're looking for a stopgap solution, sticking with your current GPU for now could work, but you might want to save up for a full upgrade to get the best performance. As far as RAM goes, 32GB is great, especially for multitasking with streaming and gaming, but consider whether you want to invest that much now or go for something cheaper first.

Thanks for the insight! I didn’t realize my GPU was so outdated. If I stick with the AMD 5 9600x and the MSI Pro X870-P motherboard with 32GB RAM for now, would that set me up decently until I can save for a better GPU later?
