Why is my iPhone 14 shutting down at 80% battery?

Hey everyone, I've been having this frustrating issue with my iPhone 14 lately. It started when my phone died at 7% battery, which was annoying, but now it keeps shutting down right after I unplug it, even when the battery is showing 80% charged. I've fully charged it for a while, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Also, occasionally, the volume goes super low even though it's turned all the way up. What could be causing this, and is there a way to fix it without having to replace the battery, which is not an option for me financially?

It sounds like your battery health is pretty low at 76%. If it's outside of your warranty, unfortunately, the only real option may be to get a paid battery replacement. You could push it a bit longer, but it might cause more issues down the line.

First off, have you checked your battery health? If it's below 80%, you might qualify for a cheaper replacement, especially if you're under warranty or have AppleCare. Go to Settings > Battery to see if any apps are using too much power. I'd also recommend reaching out to Apple Support. They can run remote diagnostics on your device to identify any potential hardware issues. You might need a service fix, especially if the battery is fading fast.

At this point, it sounds like it's battery replacement time. Don't let it get worse; it could lead to more complications later.

Your battery has likely failed. An express replacement through AppleCare could be an option, but make sure you use a credit card for that; they’ll hold a deposit until you send back your faulty phone before refunding.

Yeah, mine's at a similar battery health and while it lasts okay for now, I know it's time for a swap soon. Your iPhone 14 shouldn't be acting this way yet, though! If you do decide to replace the battery, just make sure you go to a reputable place that can calibrate it properly afterward.
