I recently decided to replace the thermal paste on my MSI GF63 Thin because my CPU was overheating while gaming. After I completed the task, my laptop wouldn't turn on at all. Here's what I did: I carefully opened the rear cover, removed the battery, and took out the GPU to clean the old thermal paste off. Then, I applied the new Shin-Etsu 7921 thermal paste, reinstalled the GPU, plugged the battery back in, and closed everything up. Unfortunately, when I attempted to power it on, nothing happened - the screen remained dark and the keyboard lights didn't illuminate.
I panicked and opened it up again to check if I maybe used too much paste, so I cleaned up the excess. Still, it wouldn't turn on. I've tried letting it charge, holding the power button for 30 seconds, resetting the RAM, and even checking for any grounding issues near the power button, but nothing worked. I did notice that the power button area gets warm when I try to power it on. I also observed a grounding tab next to it that seems to not be connected properly. I attempted to fix that by inserting a screw through the cover and the tab, but I still can't get it to turn on. I've attached images for reference. Can anyone help me figure out what might be wrong? I'd really appreciate it!

Just a heads up, it seems like your laptop was taken apart quite a bit for a thermal paste change. Diagnosing via pictures can be tricky, but from what you've described, focus on the grounding tab issue. If it’s not seated correctly, that could prevent power from getting where it needs to go. Try reseating it properly and see if that helps.
