Thinking About Upgrading My CPU for Better Performance

Hey everyone! I'm currently gaming with a 7800 XT and an AMD Ryzen 2600, and I'm hitting around 100-120 FPS in CS2. However, I've noticed my GPU and CPU usage is hovering around 40-50%, and the threads seem to be underutilized. I'm considering a CPU upgrade to boost my performance. Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I'd recommend the 5700X3D and you'll be set for a few more years of gaming! Just don’t forget to check your BIOS version beforehand in case an update is needed.

Your CPU is definitely bottlenecking your GPU. Look up your motherboard specs; most should allow a 5000 series Ryzen after a BIOS update!

5700X3D sounds great, huh?

I have an ASRock X370 Killer SLI/AC as well.

If you can snag a used Ryzen 5600, that could give you about a 35% FPS increase. The 5800X would be even better if your motherboard supports it. Just make sure to check if you need a BIOS update!

I have an ASRock X370 Killer SLI/AC, should I be worried about compatibility?

Just a heads up, CPU usage percentages aren’t always a clear indicator of performance. If a game only utilizes 2 of your 4 threads, it might show 50% usage, but you're still maxing out your CPU cores. It does sound like you're CPU-limited though, so an upgrade is a good move!

Oh man, pairing a 7800 XT with a 2600 is definitely holding you back. Go for the 5700X3D if you can, and remember to check if your BIOS needs an update!

Make sure to perform a BIOS update to the latest version for your motherboard. For a budget-friendly choice, you could grab a 5600 or 5700 for around $125-135 on Amazon. If you can splurge a bit, the 5700X3D will give you top-notch performance!

How do I actually update my BIOS?
