I'm curious about whether 8bitdo controllers work well with Linux systems. I noticed their website doesn't mention Linux compatibility, but I've heard mixed things. Is there a way to know for sure which models work without having to buy one?

I've tested a couple of models like the 2.4g Ultimate and the SN30 Pro Plus, and both worked seamlessly without any need for tinkering. Plug and play is definitely the way to go with these controllers.
I've had success with my Pro 2 controller on Linux too. It works great, but I did run into issues when trying to update the firmware since the software doesn't support Linux well. I did manage to find a workaround at some point, but I need to dig around for that link again!
Yes, generally speaking, 8bitdo controllers are compatible with Linux! I have an 8bitdo Ultimate Bluetooth controller, and it works perfectly in both Bluetooth and wired modes on my Linux setup. Just keep in mind that compatibility can vary by model, so it's good to check individual specifications if you want full certainty.
All of my 8bitdo controllers work fine on Linux! Just keep in mind that the company doesn’t officially support Linux, which is a bit disappointing. If you need help and reach out to them, they might not be very helpful. But I still think their controllers are worth it for what they offer!
