Hey everyone! I'm considering an upgrade from my 3070 Ti to a 7900 GRE and I'm trying to figure out if it's a smart move. I would need to pay about $100 more for the upgrade. I've been using my PC with a TV for some 4K gaming sessions, and I've noticed that the 8 GB VRAM in the 3070 Ti feels a bit limiting at higher resolutions. Also, just to clarify, there was a typo in the title; it's actually the 7900 GRE I'm looking at.

I upgraded to the 7900 GRE from my 3070 and honestly found it a bit underwhelming, even though it's around a 40% performance increase compared to the Ti. If VRAM isn't a major concern, you might want to hold off for the next gen or aim for a 9070XT or 5070 Ti instead. Also, I've been using a 3060 Ti for 4K and it's not terrible as long as I adjust some settings favorably.
Honestly, if I were you, I'd go for at least the 9070. The extra 4 GB of VRAM makes a big difference for 4K gaming.
Right, but also remember, the 7900 GRE has 16GB of VRAM, so that could help too!
Totally agree, having more VRAM is a plus for higher resolutions!
Yeah, you're aiming for the 7900 GRE, right? I went from a 3070 to a 6900 XT for 4K and I'm happy, but the performance boost wasn't as massive as I thought it would be.
Yep, that’s the one! Just wanted to confirm after the correction.
That's interesting, I thought 40% was decent for just an extra $100. I’ll definitely weigh that against your experience—thanks for sharing!
