I've been battling an issue with my PC for the last two weeks. When I turn it on, it shows 'Preparing Automatic Repair' for just a couple of seconds before the screen goes black. The keyboard and mouse stop working, but the PC itself stays on indefinitely. The only way I can power it down is by using the switch on the power supply. The BIOS seems to run fine, though. Here's what I've tried so far:
- Unplugged and re-plugged everything, including the CMOS battery.
- Created a new USB drive with Windows and tried to boot from it, even without a hard drive connected. The setup screen appears briefly before the screen goes black again.
- Attempted to run in safe mode, but as soon as I enter my password, the screen turns off, and the keyboard and mouse stop responding.
- Tried booting with no peripherals connected—no mouse, keyboard, or monitor at all.

I think using a live OS could make a difference. It helps narrow down whether it's a hardware problem or an OS issue. If the live system works fine, you'll know there's something wrong with your main OS installation.
Have you considered trying a live operating system like Hiren's or Ubuntu? It might help you see if the issue is related to your current OS or hardware. Sometimes, booting from a live USB can bypass troubles you're having with the main operating system.
