How Does iCloud Storage Work for My iPad?

I recently got an iPad 10th gen with 64GB, and I'm already at full capacity. I've just subscribed to 200GB of iCloud storage, but I'm not quite sure how it all works. I only have the iPad and no other Apple devices, so I could use some guidance. Even after getting the extra storage, my iPad still says it's full whenever I try to download an app. Can someone help me understand how to manage this?

iCloud essentially backs up your data and keeps it synced across devices. It’s not just additional space; if you want to free up space on your iPad, you might need to manually delete some data. Optimizing your storage can help a little, but it's not a full solution—deleting unnecessary files will create more room!

So, the 200GB of iCloud storage is primarily for apps that can save their data in the cloud. But keep in mind that most apps still require some space on your iPad itself to operate. You can check out the Files app on your iPad to see sections for both local storage and iCloud storage. To make more room, try moving files to iCloud if the app allows it. Some apps don’t lend themselves to easy data management, so it might take some tinkering to find what works! If you're still having trouble, sharing a screenshot of your storage might help figure it out.

Remember, iCloud is like online storage, but it doesn’t add more space to your iPad directly. If you want to download new apps, you’ll need to either delete some old apps or files to make room. Alternatively, consider upgrading to a device with larger storage if that fits your needs better.
