Hey everyone! I've just switched to Linux (using Ubuntu) on my old Acer Aspire 5 and it's running so much better compared to when I had Windows—it's actually kind of amazing. I'm really enjoying the experience, but now I'm curious about exploring other Linux distros to find the one that fits me best. A little about me: I'm a web and Android developer, and I also dabble in building desktop apps. So, I'm looking for something that's developer-friendly, lightweight, and has good support for development tools and IDEs. Any suggestions?

If you're looking for alternatives to Ubuntu, I'd suggest trying Fedora. It’s pretty stable and has a lot of support for developers. Plus, it usually has newer packages, which might be beneficial for your development environment.

If you're looking for something fresh, have a look at Void Linux with KDE. It's a great combination for system performance and a nice user interface.

Don't overlook trying out different desktop environments (DE) on your current Ubuntu setup. You can install various DEs without switching distros, which lets you customize your experience without going through a full install. Just grab a package for the DE you want, log out, and choose your new DE at the login screen.

You might want to dive into Arch Linux if you're up for a bit of a challenge. It's super customizable and can be lightweight, but it does have a steeper learning curve. If you enjoy tinkering, this could be a great fit.
