Hey everyone, I recently dusted my PC and now I'm stuck with no display. Just to give you some context on my setup:
- CPU: Intel i5-12400F
- Motherboard: Asrock B660M
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance 3600
- GPU: Radeon 7900 GRE
When I power it on, all the fans and lights are working, including the GPU and motherboard. However, there's no display output. Here are some details about what I did:
- Cleaned everything with a Swiffer duster.
- Accidentally bent and broke off a metal piece from the I/O.
- Spun the fans to clean them as well.
- There's a chance I unplugged and replugged the RAM and GPU while the power was still on, but I can't remember for sure.
So, everything seems to be operational, but I can't get it to display anything. Any advice would be appreciated!

It sounds like you might have accidentally caused a short when you were cleaning or when you unplugged the components. First off, you might want to check if all your cables are properly connected. Sometimes things can come loose, especially when you’re messing around in there. Also, try reseating the RAM and GPU again, but make sure the power is off this time! If you broke a piece on the I/O, check if it’s causing issues or if something is grounding out. Lastly, test with a different monitor or cable if you can, just to rule out display issues.
Cleaning your PC can be risky, especially if components are unplugged while it's powered on. If reseating everything and checking connections doesn't work, you might want to reset the CMOS. This can help clear any issues caused by potential shorts or incorrect settings. Just unplug your PC, remove the battery on the motherboard for a couple of minutes, and put it back in. It could get you back up and running!
Great idea, I'll give that a try. Thanks for the tip!
Yeah, definitely check all that. I once had a similar issue after cleaning—turned out one of my HDMI ports was loose!
