Best Platforms for Staying Connected with Non-Tech-Savvy Users?

I'm seeking a user-friendly platform to maintain communication with non-tech-savvy end-users. I've recently developed a successful application that's currently used by a larger company. Feedback is channeled through a single contact person who interacts with me. We manage everything through a private GitHub repository where this individual keeps the tickets updated, which helps us prioritize tasks. While this method works fine for one client, my application is about to expand, and I'll be adding a second client along with more organization units that have separate budgets.

GitHub is starting to show its limitations since users need to be members or collaborators on the projects, which grants them too many permissions. Plus, it isn't very suited for users who aren't tech-savvy. I considered GitLab, but their email-based customer support option is deprecated, which makes me hesitant. I've also looked into Zammad, which seems promising, and FreeScout, though I discovered their docker image isn't available for download.

Before committing to Zammad, I wanted to see if anyone has suggestions for an industry-standard solution that's low-cost and preferably self-hosted. As a solo developer, I need to keep expenses in check, even though my project is showing success.

+1 for Zammad! I even created a frontend specifically for end-users, making it easier for them to view and create tickets. Here’s the link to my project: https://github.com/DanielKng/zd-ticket-portal.

This looks really nice! It's way better than the default Zammad UI, for sure.

You might want to check out the Awesome-Selfhosted GitHub page for ideas on self-hosted options. For example, I found Huly there; it could be worth a look depending on your communication needs.

Zammad is an excellent option. Both my current and previous companies use it, and it's been reliable for handling user communications.
