Installing AMD Drivers on Linux Mint: Do I Need to Worry?

I'm using a laptop with an AMD Radeon R5 M430 GPU and an Intel integrated GPU. I've had trouble installing drivers on Windows, and I'm a bit concerned about how to manage this when I switch to Linux Mint Cinnamon. I heard there's a command that updates all drivers, but I'm unsure if it'll also cover my AMD graphics card. Also, I'm deciding between Linux Mint Cinnamon and Zorin OS; I'm leaning towards Mint because I've heard it has more customization options and is faster. Any thoughts on the driver situation and which OS I should choose?

Check out the migration page on the wiki for tips on switching over. Just a reminder: always use root access sparingly and be careful with third-party repos!

Mint is indeed a great choice! The drivers are pre-installed, so you won't have to do anything extra. Just install Mint and you're good to go with the graphics!

Good news! You don’t have to stress about installing drivers for your AMD and Intel GPUs on Linux. They're already built into the kernel, so as long as you keep your system updated, you'll get all the latest drivers automatically. As for choosing between Mint and Zorin, if you find Mint's performance better, that sounds like the way to go! Both distros are solid, but Mint has a reputation for being pretty user-friendly and customizable.

Absolutely! Your AMD card is new enough that you won’t need to fiddle with anything. It's a nifty combo with the Intel GPU, too; you'll have a smooth experience!

I hear you about Fedora! It's sleek, but Mint does offer strong customization too. And yes, Fedora also has inbuilt drivers, so you’ll be covered there as well.
