Is Upgrading to a 2080 TI Worth It for My Older PC?

I've got an older PC and I'm thinking about upgrading my GPU. My current specs are an i5-9400f CPU, 16GB DDR4 RAM, a GTX 1080, and an NVME M.2 SSD. I'm considering buying a 2080 TI for around $150, but it's worth noting that two of its ports are defective, although the rest seem fine. I mainly play games like The Witcher 3, The Last of Us, and Cyberpunk. I'm looking for opinions on whether this upgrade will really be worth it or if my PC will be significantly bottlenecked by the CPU. I know some folks might think it's a silly purchase, but gaming is my hobby and I want to make an informed decision!

While the 2080 TI is a good upgrade, keep in mind that your CPU can hold it back, especially in CPU-heavy games. Also, how much storage do you have on your SSD?

I've got a 1TB SSD. I get that some games can be CPU intensive, but can't most of them keep up with this setup?

Upgrading to the 2080 TI for $150 sounds like a solid choice! You'll see a decent performance boost, especially if you increase your resolution. In fact, it's going to shine at 1440p and help with ray tracing too. Just keep in mind that the CPU might throttle its full potential, but in most scenarios, you'd prefer having your GPU as the bottleneck anyway. You might even want to consider powerful GPUs like the RTX 3080 in the future, but the price on this 2080 TI is hard to beat for performance per dollar. Just enjoy your games!

Exactly! Plus, most gamers end up with some form of bottleneck. It's just about how much you're willing to spend versus performance gains.

Go for it! I upgraded from a 1070 TI to a 7900 GRE on an older Ryzen 3600 setup. I run everything at full 1440p and haven't had issues with bottlenecks; just focus on having fun and enjoying those games!
