I just bought a SanDisk Portable SSD 1TB directly from the official store, and I registered it online to confirm it's legitimate. I even formatted it and checked for firmware updates using SanDisk Dashboard. Everything seemed great until I started backing up files and noticed the transfer speeds are shockingly slow. The drive claims it can reach up to 800 MB/s for reads and around 400-500 MB/s for writes. However, I'm only getting write speeds of around 32 MB/s, sometimes barely hitting 40 MB/s. I'm wondering if I ended up with a defective unit or if I fell victim to false advertising. Is there anything I might have overlooked?

Have you checked the cable that came with it? Make sure it's connected properly. Is it in an external enclosure? Also, are you plugging it into a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port? Sometimes the port can make a big difference!
Honestly, if you're not getting the speeds you expect, it might be time to consider returning it and getting a Samsung SSD instead. They generally have better performance in my experience.
I'm using the original cable, and the specs say it's USB 3.2 Gen 2. It's plugged into a USB 3.0 port on my PC now.
