Why is Apple So Reluctant to Issue Refunds Lately?

I've noticed that Apple seems to deny refunds no matter the situation, and it's really frustrating. Recently, I signed up for a ChatGPT subscription, but it ended up linking to an old, deleted account that I can't access anymore. I reached out to OpenAI for help, but they directed me to Apple for the refund. I explained everything to Apple, but they denied my request without any explanation. This isn't the first time I've faced issues with Apple products and their customer service. I've been a loyal Apple user for years, but if this keeps happening, I'm considering switching to another brand. Is there something going on with their refund policy? Is there any way I can get my money back, or should I just give up? I'm also thinking about contacting my bank, but I don't want to deal with a big hassle over a $20 charge.

You should definitely reach out to Apple Support directly. Sometimes they can escalate issues or provide solutions to get your account sorted out. Just explain your situation clearly without mentioning the refund—focus on the error with your account linking. They have a system to help fix these types of problems, and you might get your subscription sorted out without too much hassle!

It seems like Apple tightened their refund policy because of customers abusing it in the past. If you go for a chargeback through your credit card, just be aware that Apple might ban your account because of that. I’d recommend trying to contact Apple again; you might get a better response if you can speak to the right person.

Thanks for the heads-up! I might rethink my options with Apple products altogether.

The situation is a bit tricky. If you made the purchase through Apple, you might be able to give them your new account details and resolve the issue. But since your previous ChatGPT account was linked with your Apple ID, Apple might not take responsibility. It's worth reaching out directly to Apple Support to clarify everything without focusing on the refund just yet. Good luck!
