What’s the Best Intake to Exhaust Fan Ratio for 9 Fans?

I know having 9 fans sounds excessive, but my room gets really hot this time of year and tends to get dusty, so I'm looking for the best circulation setup. How should I configure the number of intake fans versus exhaust fans among those 9?

From my experience, having 4 intake and 1 exhaust works, but it can still let in some dust. Aim for a good airflow pattern - front to back, bottom to top. More intake fans can help create positive pressure inside the case, reducing dust getting sucked in from cracks.

I appreciate that advice! I'm planning to add a few more exhaust fans to balance it out, but I know I can't eliminate all dust. I’m also getting an air purifier for my room.

Typically, a good setup is around 5 intake fans and 4 exhaust fans or even 6 intake to 3 exhaust. The reason for more intake is that intake fans often work against filters or radiators, which can hinder their airflow. Having a slight positive pressure with more intake helps keep dust out.

Totally agree! Just remember to put dust filters on all your fans. If you're dealing with dust and heat, consider liquid cooling too; even a basic AIO can help manage temperatures.

Always better to have more intake fans to maintain positive pressure inside the case. Aim for at least a 5:4 ratio of intake to exhaust, or even 6:3 if possible.

Sounds great! I’ll definitely have 10 eventually, so 6 intake and 4 exhaust sounds like a solid plan.

I've found that a configuration with 10 fans gave me the best temps: 3 intake from the bottom, 3 from the front, 1 exhaust from the rear, and 3 exhaust from the top along with an AIO cooler. Everyone has different experiences with fan setups, so find what works for your room's heat.

I'm gearing up to have 10 fans too! I think I’ll need an extra exhaust to keep things balanced. Thanks for the tips!
