Hey everyone! I've been diving into frontend development for about a month and a half to prep for my studies. I'm focusing on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL since they're part of my curriculum and I want to get a job in this field. But lately, I feel completely stuck when I try to start my own projects. While I've completed a few projects on my own, I often hit walls and leaning on AI to get through them hasn't helped me learn much. I struggle to remember concepts and find it tough to build anything from scratch. I've watched a lot of tutorials, but I still feel unmotivated and like I'm not making progress. I thought about reviewing the languages on W3Schools and taking notes, but the projects I look up either have minimal instructions leading me back to AI, or they're too guided, which doesn't help me reuse what I've learned. Has anyone else faced this? Any advice or favorite learning resources? I'd appreciate any help!

I noticed you started relying on AI and that might be the issue. It can make it easy to skim over important learning. Try going ‘cold turkey’ on AI for a bit and dig into resources like Stack Overflow instead. It may feel tougher at first, but putting in that effort will help with recall. Also, looking into proper project architecture can really help you tackle projects piece by piece without feeling overwhelmed.
Maybe try starting with smaller projects? Focus on creating simple elements or designs first, like copying a layout or styling a button. This can build your confidence and skills gradually without overwhelming you.
Honestly, a month and a half isn’t enough to fully absorb frontend concepts. If you want to transition to backend, pick a backend language you like, and maybe buy a course or follow tutorials, but make sure during that process to work on new projects without following along step-by-step. It’s great practice to Google your way through challenges that come up!
It sounds like you might be rushing things a bit. A month and a half isn’t a long time at all when it comes to grasping frontend development. Give yourself more time to practice and get used to the concepts!
I hear you! I spent a month on just HTML, CSS, and JavaScript before jumping into backend too. It’s totally fine to learn at your own pace.
