Why does Google think I’m located in Mexico?

I'm seeing a weird issue where Google thinks I'm in Mexico, even though I've never been there. I suspect it could be related to the VPN I'm using since I'm currently staying at someone else's house. I'm also using a Samsung A1, so I'm a bit worried it could be malware too. Anyone know why this is happening?

It sounds like your VPN might be set to a Mexican server, which is why Google thinks you’re in Mexico. If you don’t want that, you can change your VPN settings to connect to a different country. Just make sure that the VPN you’re using is reputable and doesn’t have any leaks that could expose your real location. Also, if you're using someone else's network, check if they're using a VPN too!

Yeah, that's a good point! It could just be the VPN settings. Also, consider restarting your device after changing anything related to the VPN.

It's unlikely that it's malware causing the issue, but it’s a good idea to scan your device just to be safe. There are various apps on the Play Store you can use for that. Google can pick up on IP addresses that show a location different from where you really are, especially with VPNs involved.
