I'm looking to buy a laptop that comes with 12GB of RAM and I plan to upgrade it by adding an additional 16GB later on. Both the RAM modules are DDR5. Will this configuration work without any issues?

It depends on the laptop. Some models have RAM soldered to the motherboard, which means you can't upgrade it. Make sure your laptop allows for RAM upgrades before you buy it!

Just a heads up! With 12GB, you might have a combination of a 4GB and an 8GB module. If they can't work in dual channel, it could slow down a bit compared to having two identical sticks. Ensure you have two slots available for the upgrade.”}]} ``` Thanks for your input! Hope this helps clear things up. ``` ``` Just to clarify, the laptop I’m eyeing does have upgradable RAM, so that should work in my favor! ``` ``` Good! That’ll definitely help with future upgrades! ``` ``` Just be cautious about the capacity limits of your motherboard; it may not support that much.

Don't forget to check the RAM frequency! If the new stick and the existing one don't match, you might not get the best performance. It's ideal to use sticks with the same speed.

Yeah, it'll work! Just check how your laptop is set up. If it has 4GB soldered and 8GB as a removable stick, adding another 16GB can work, but make sure they match to get better dual-channel performance!
