I'm planning to take my 12" 2017 laptop to a repair shop for a battery replacement because I really like this model, and they don't make them anymore. I've backed up my data using Time Machine, but I'm concerned about keeping my sensitive information safe, particularly saved passwords in my browsers. I'd rather not have to wipe and restore my laptop because I'm not very tech-savvy. I'm considering downloading and deleting my financial and tax documents and maybe uninstalling my browsers while saving their data. Is there anything else I should do to protect myself before the repair?

No need to worry too much about your passwords, they won't have access to them unless you give them explicitly. Just make sure all your important data is backed up. It sounds like you're already on the right track!
But won't they need my password to access system settings and stuff?
