Looking for Advice on My PC Upgrade After a Decade

Hey everyone! I've been using my current PC for nearly 10 years now. It was awesome back in the day, featuring an i7-6700K and GTX 1080. However, after the 1080 failed three years ago, I switched to a GTX 1060 and later upgraded to an RTX 3060. Now, I'm eager to build a solid, high mid-range system around the RTX 3060, and I'm willing to increase my budget by about £300 if needed.

As a student with a part-time job, I don't have too many expenses right now besides food and investments, so I want to make sure I get good value without going overboard. I couldn't care less about RGB or aesthetics since my case is hidden behind my monitor.

I decided to stick with AMD for a few reasons:
1. My Intel platform was a pain for upgrades.
2. AMD's AM5 platform offers better upgrade paths.
3. I'm more focused on longevity than squeezing out every last frame in gaming.

I plan to keep my old PC as a secondary system once I swap in the GTX 1060. Please take a look at my part list below and let me know if you have any suggestions or thoughts!

Thank you! It's been a solid 30,000+ hours, so I guess it’s time for a fresh start!

Your build looks great overall! If I were to offer some advice, I'd say the CPU cooler might be a bit excessive for the Ryzen 5 7600X, but it will keep things super quiet. Just keep an eye on your SSD space; a 1TB can fill up fast, especially if you're gaming a lot!

Thanks! I thought about the stock cooler but went for this one to ensure quieter operation since I’ll leave it on overnight sometimes.

Totally agree about the SSD! You might want to consider adding more storage in the future depending on your game library.

Think about bumping your RAM from 32GB to 64GB for future-proofing, especially with Windows 11 updates coming in hot!

Everything looks solid! If you're thinking of memory, going with 6000 CL30 RAM could save you a bit without sacrificing performance. Also, regarding the PSU, 750W seems a little excessive; 650W would be plenty.

Good point! I’ll check out the tier list you mentioned before making a final decision on the PSU.

Yeah, those power supply tiers can be super helpful! I didn't realize how much they could affect performance and safety before!
