Should I Upgrade My Current PC or Build a New One?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my current high-end 1080p gaming setup to a high-end 1440p system. I'm considering swapping out my motherboard, CPU, and GPU, and of course, I'll need a new monitor. I'm planning to keep my case, power supply, RAM, SSD, and CPU cooler since they're all only about a year old from when I built the PC. However, I'm also thinking about just building an entirely new PC with upgraded parts. One of my concerns is that it might be easier to sell a complete system rather than parting out individual components. What would you all suggest I do? Thanks in advance! By the way, I live in Australia, which might be relevant. I'm probably looking to make this upgrade within the year.

If you're set on 1440p gaming, investing in a good GPU like the 9070XT sounds promising. You mentioned keeping your motherboard; it should handle the new CPU and GPU just fine. Upgrading to a higher refresh rate monitor will really enhance your gaming experience too!

Definitely consider getting a monitor with a higher refresh rate. It'll make a big difference in gameplay, especially for competitive gaming!

I think it really depends on your budget and future plans. If you plan on sticking to gaming without going into content creation or heavy multitasking, then just upgrading might be the way to go. But if you're looking for a long-term investment and something that's future-proof, building a new PC could be worthwhile.

You might want to just upgrade your current setup and sell the parts individually. The market for used components can be decent, and it keeps your options open for customization later. Just swapping out your GPU could do wonders, and since your motherboard is solid, there's no need to change it if it supports the new parts you want.

Yeah, I agree! There's no reason to replace the motherboard unless you really want the latest features. Starting with a new GPU might give you the performance boost you're looking for.

Just a suggestion: look at your current specs and see how much improvement you'd actually get from new parts. Sometimes, a simple upgrade like a new GPU or CPU can give you the performance you need without the hassle of a whole rebuild.
