Hey everyone! A little while back, I built a new PC but decided to stick with my old RTX 3060 12GB due to budget constraints. Here are my specs:
- Intel Core i9 14900K
- 64GB DDR5 RAM
- Asus ROG Strix Z790-A Gaming WiFi Motherboard
- Corsair RM1200x Shift Power Supply
- RTX 3060 12GB GPU
Currently, I'm gaming at 1080p but I'm planning to up my game to 1440p. Should I go ahead and grab the RTX 5080 now, or is it smarter to wait for the rumored RTX 5080 Super?

I've heard that sometimes with new releases like the 5080 Super, there could be initial production issues, like faulty components. If you can wait, it might be worth it unless you have immediate needs for more than 16GB of VRAM.
If you're not in a rush, Black Friday could bring some sweet deals. It's worth holding out a bit to see what pops up!
The 5080 Super is likely to utilize its 16GB VRAM better for VR and high-end 4k gaming, but if you don’t have plans for 4k or VR, then maybe stick with what you've got for now.
Honestly, if you’re eyeing 1440p gaming, the 5070 Ti or 9070 XT would serve you just fine and they cost a lot less than the 5080. From what I've seen, the 5080 might only be about 15% better, and it’s quite a bit pricier. Instead, consider grabbing one of those cards and invest in a nice 27" 1440p 240Hz OLED monitor. That upgrade will really enhance your gaming experience!
Totally agree with this!
You have an awesome rig that deserves a top-tier GPU! If you wait for the Super series, it might not result in a significant difference. Buying the 5080 now means you get to enjoy that powerful GPU sooner rather than later. If it fits your budget, go for it! You'll be able to enjoy some amazing graphics for months ahead!
Yeah, but I’m not into VR or 4k, so it might not affect me.
