Hey folks! I've got a laptop with two internal SSDs. Currently, Windows is set up on the primary SSD, but I want to switch it over to the secondary SSD without going through the hassle of a full reinstall. I'm planning to use cloning software like Macrium Reflect or AOMEI Backupper for this. Once I clone the system drive to the second one, I'll adjust the boot order in BIOS to boot from the new drive. I've got a few questions before I dive in: Will cloning impact the original Windows drive? I believe the second drive will be wiped clean, right? Once I switch the boot drive, can I safely format the old drive to repurpose it for storage? Any tips or common pitfalls to watch out for during this process? Cloning shouldn't affect your original drive while it's happening. Just make sure the destination drive has enough space for the cloned data. If your destination drive is larger, your cloning tool should handle that pretty well. Once you've made the switch, you can format the old drive for storage, just double-check everything looks good first.
I recently used Clonezilla to clone my Windows disk, and it was pretty straightforward with the right tutorial. Just keep in mind that your destination drive will be wiped, so it's best to clean it up in Windows first. You can do this via the Command Prompt with diskpart. After wiping it, you can proceed with the cloning!
