I've been exploring Linux for a while but I've never used it as my main operating system. I've tried both Ubuntu and Mint, but I found Mint to be quite unattractive. My main goal is to have a smooth experience where things just work, and I do appreciate a nice user interface. I don't mind if the distribution isn't constantly updated, so I'm fine with non-LTS versions. What Linux distribution would you recommend for someone like me?

If you're not a fan of Mint, you might want to stick with Ubuntu. It has a good balance of usability and aesthetics and often works well for intermediate users.
Have you thought about what else you want from your distro? Are you using older hardware, or do you have specific tasks you want to accomplish? Knowing this can help narrow it down a bit!
Don't forget, you can customize any desktop environment to look however you want! That said, KDE tends to look really nice from the start. Plus, there are themes for Cinnamon that can give it a Windows-like appearance if you're into that!
You could check out Kubuntu, which is Ubuntu with the KDE desktop environment. It gives you a great look right out of the box and is pretty user-friendly.
