I'm about to finish university and I'm looking to start my journey as a full stack developer, but it feels a bit overwhelming. I want to begin with front end development since it's where I feel more at ease. Can anyone share what typical expectations are for someone in a junior front end developer role? I want to get a better understanding of what I should be prepared for. Thanks!

It's really about how quickly you adapt to the company's workflow. Everyone knows juniors take time to ramp up, so don’t stress about being perfect immediately.

Most companies understand that junior developers aren’t going to be super productive right off the bat. You’ll likely be given time to learn the project details, explore the frameworks and libraries in use, and you'll definitely be expected to show a willingness to learn. Just remember, you’re not there to change the world right away. If you're honest about your level of experience, they’ll know not to give you the toughest challenges right away.

I hate to break it to you, but you might also find yourself fetching coffee every now and then! Just kidding, but it does help to show you're a team player. The key is to communicate openly with your manager at the start of your job about your learning goals and expectations.
