Trouble Booting Linux Mint from USB Stick

Hey there Linux enthusiasts! 😊 I recently got an HP EliteDesk 800 G1 USDT and since it won't support Windows 11, I've decided to give Linux a shot. I previously tried it on an old HP desktop, but it crashed a lot—probably because of the GTS 250 graphics card.

So, I downloaded the latest Cinnamon ISO from the Linux Mint website and created a bootable USB stick using both Etcher and Rufus. Everything seemed fine during the process. However, when I try to boot from it, the USB stick doesn't even show up in the boot menu.

Are there any special tricks to get it recognized, or is this just an HP thing? I did make sure that my BIOS is up to date.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I finally figured out the issue! It was related to the Secure Boot setting in the BIOS. It was turned off, blocking the USB boot. I accessed the boot menu by pressing F10 and enabled Secure Boot, and now Linux Mint boots perfectly!

Did you get the "Live" ISO version? To boot from the USB, try hitting F12 during startup to access the boot menu. If it doesn't work, check your BIOS settings and set the USB as the primary boot device, followed by the HDD.

You might want to try a different USB stick. Sometimes compatibility issues can arise with certain sticks.
