Should I Build or Buy a New PC?

I've been using a laptop for the past few years, but I'm really tired of it because it has some annoying keyboard issues. I'm looking to replace it with either a prebuilt desktop or a custom-built one. The thing is, I'm a complete newbie when it comes to building PCs, and I'm not sure how to choose compatible components. My budget is $700 CAD, and I'm wondering if I can build a decent PC for that price or if it would be better to go with a prebuilt option. Any advice would be appreciated!

Honestly, if you're not too picky, getting a Mac could be a worthwhile option too!

If you can spare the time to build, I’d say go for it. I spent a while piecing together my setup and ended up with an iMac and some cool accessories, but I learned tons along the way. Just make sure you do thorough research on compatibility!

Welcome! You've definitely come to the right place. I've picked up a lot of good advice here. Just remember to clarify what you'll mainly use it for—if gaming's in the mix, take that into consideration for your build or purchase.

Mainly everyday use with a bit of old school gaming.

Have you thought about just getting a USB keyboard? There are some solid options out there. It could save you from the hassle of a whole new PC for now.

Yeah, I've heard that Klim makes some great keyboards!

I’m already using a USB keyboard, but the built-in keyboard has a sticky start key that’s causing problems.

Just so you know, it might be a better idea to check out other subreddits focused on PC building, especially if you decide to go with a prebuilt option. Good luck with whatever you choose!
