I'm building my first gaming PC and have narrowed it down to two AMD graphics cards: the 7800 XT and the 9070 XT. The 7800 XT performs about 20-30 frames per second less than the 9070 XT but is also $300 cheaper in Canadian dollars. I've also looked at other options like the 7900 XT, 9060 XT, and 7900 GRE, but the GRE is out of stock, the 9060 XT doesn't offer the performance I want, and the 7900 XT is outside my budget. I'll pair whatever GPU I choose with a CPU that I haven't decided on yet. Can anyone give me some advice?

The 9070 XT is more than just a performance bump; it excels in ray tracing too, which is becoming more common in newer games. If you’re future-proofing your build, this is the way to go!
You might also want to consider the regular 9070 if you can find a good deal. It's cheaper and still performs well enough for most games, plus it overclocks nicely.
Interesting point! I'll check out the non-XT version and see if it's better price-wise where I am.
From what I’ve seen, the 9070 XT has significantly better performance, especially with ray tracing and demanding games. The 20-30 FPS difference can be pretty noticeable, especially for future titles. It’s an investment you won't regret if you can afford it!
Thanks, that makes me feel better about the extra cost! I just really want to enjoy high frame rates.
If you're really tight on budget, the 7800 XT isn't a bad option, especially if you don't plan to play at super high settings. But honestly, if you can swing the 9070 XT, it's much more future-proof and better for ray tracing.
I hear you on the budget! But after reading the feedback here, I think I might reconsider and go for the 9070 XT!
Definitely go for the 9070 XT! It's got the latest architecture, and the performance boost is worth it. Plus, it supports FSR4, which is a game changer for future games. If you can afford the extra $300, I say get it!
I agree! The 9070 XT is almost on par with the 7900 XT in terms of performance. It's worth the investment!
That's good to know! I want to play games on higher settings, so I think I might just splash out for the 9070 XT.
