I'm upgrading my pretty outdated specs that I got five years ago, and I'm wondering if the components I've chosen are solid or if I need to make some changes. I'm generally happy with everything, but the motherboard choice has me pondering – is the B850 really worth it over the B650? I'm prioritizing longevity since this is my first time actually building a PC (it was prebuilt before) and I'm excited to learn about the process! My budget is pretty tight at this point, as I initially planned for the standard 5070 but decided to opt for the 5070 Ti instead for better future-proofing.
Also, I'm looking to use the Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE ARGB Dual Tower CPU Cooler as my cooler, although I couldn't find that exact model on PCPartPicker. Upgrading the SSD is on my to-do list for later on as well. I'm based in the UK, just in case that matters for parts availability.
Just to clarify, I'm also using a 1TB Seagate BarraCuda HDD for storage. Cheers!

Are you already set with your case? If not, I recommend checking out some lists to see what fits your budget. Also, I reviewed your part list, and it looks pretty solid! The B850 motherboard has some features that might be worth the extra cost if you want to future-proof your build. Keep it up!
Hey there! Definitely consider swapping your case if it has a glass front panel – airflow is super important! Cases like the Corsair 4000D Airflow are great for keeping your components cool. I’ve learned the hard way that good airflow means better performance and longevity for your parts!
Yeah, I already have the case. Might not matter if it's not optimal for airflow, but it’s a gamble I guess. Just trying to build confidence for my first time!
