I'm feeling a bit clueless here. I accidentally plugged a USB-C cable into a USB-A port on my PC, and it caused my computer to turn off and on a few times. After I powered it down and waited a bit, it wouldn't boot up properly and just stuck on the Gigabyte BIOS screen, saying there was no boot drive detected. Now I'm worried—did I mess up my motherboard? Is my hard drive data gone for good? Can this be fixed without having to buy new parts? I'm taking my PC to an IT shop tomorrow, but I'd really appreciate any insights in the meantime! Thanks, everyone! <3 Update: I messed with some BIOS settings (forget what) and got it working again. Guess I need to learn more about BIOS settings, huh?

If your computer is booting to BIOS, it seems like your motherboard is probably fine. That’s actually a good sign! It sounds like it just didn’t recognize the boot drive at first, but since you sorted it out in BIOS, everything should be okay.
If everything is functioning normally now, plugging a USB-C into a USB-A port typically does nothing harmful—the USB-C port just won’t activate. It definitely won’t damage your hardware.
Wait, so you plugged a USB-C into a USB-A port by mistake? What happened exactly?
Haha, yeah! I reached behind my computer with a USB-C cable and didn’t realize the port next to it was USB-A. When I touched it, my PC just shut down repeatedly!
You're right! I couldn't remember what I changed in the BIOS, but the computer booted fine after that. The unexpected turning off and the clicking noises really freaked me out though!
