I'm planning to build a new PC on a budget, and I'm considering the RX580 8GB because I've heard it's quite affordable. But I'm curious if it's still a viable option in 2025. I want to play some AAA games like Elden Ring, so I'd love to hear opinions on whether I can expect decent performance with this card.

For budget builds, I'd still recommend something like a used 1660 Super over the RX580. It's not the top of the line, but it'll run games well enough for the price without compromising too much.
The RX580 was a solid budget GPU a few years back, but now it's really showing its age. You might want to look at something newer.
It can technically run games like Elder Ring, but don't expect much. It's good for 30 fps if you're okay with low settings, but the experience won't be ideal. I had it running at about 40-50 fps in 1080p a while ago. Just manage your expectations if you go this route!
If you're really on a tight budget, maybe consider getting a used RX 6000 series GPU. It'll last you longer and handle modern titles much better. The RX580 is more of an esports card these days.
Honestly, I don't think the RX580 holds up anymore. The RX6600 is really the bare minimum if you want to play modern AAA games. It's starting to feel like the RX580 is just too old at this point.
That's a bummer. I guess I won't be playing many AAA games then.
