Is Starlink Slowing Down My Linksys Router?

Hey everyone! I've been using Starlink in Southern California, and I'm curious about my network setup. I have the standard Starlink satellite with the Gen 3 router, and I've connected a Linksys MR7500 router using a CAT 5e cable. When I run speed tests on the Starlink router, I get around 340 Mbps download, 20.3 Mbps upload, and a 28 ms ping. But when I test through the Linksys router, the numbers drop to only 14.4 Mbps download, 7.61 Mbps upload, and a 29 ms ping. This testing was done on my iPhone 14 Pro Max with cellular data turned off. Is there a reason for this slowdown?

I'm curious why you're using a Linksys MR7500 when the Starlink Gen 3 has both Wi-Fi and Ethernet options already built-in. The Starlink setup should be sufficient for most needs. Are you hoping to improve coverage or speed? I can understand if you want to connect devices on the 6 GHz band for better performance, but it might be worth checking if the Starlink router alone can handle what you need.

It's not uncommon for wireless ISPs to have issues with other routers, so it wouldn’t surprise me if Starlink is contributing to the slowdown you're experiencing. One possible fix is to clone the MAC address of one of your LAN devices to the WAN side of your Linksys router; that might help. Also, if you're using the 2.4 GHz band on the Linksys, you might want to switch to the 5 GHz band instead since it's generally faster.
