Hey everyone! I could really use your advice on upgrading my PC that I've had since 2017. I haven't kept up with the latest PC components and I'm a bit lost on what to improve. My main use for the PC is gaming and everyday tasks, and I'm hoping to make upgrades that will last me another five years.

I don't have all the specific details about every part but I'll share what I can:

- **Motherboard**: MSI Z170A SLI PLUS (original)
- **CPU**: Intel Core i5-6600k / 3.5GHz (original)
- **Graphics Card**: Nvidia Quadro RTX 4000 8GB (upgraded from GTX 1060 6GB)
- **RAM**: G.Skill Ripjaw 2x16GB (2666MT/s), 4 slots used (2 original, 2 added)
- **Case**: Basic black NZXT case with 2 built-in fans (original)
- **Cooler**: Generic cooler master heat sink (Hyper 212?) (original)
- **Memory**: 500GB M.2, 2x 2TB SSD, plus a 4TB HDD (HDD original)
- **Power Supply**: Not sure on wattage but it's original
- **Monitor**: Dell curved, 3440x1440, 60hz refresh rate (upgraded)

I'm looking for your recommendations on what parts I should upgrade and what I can keep. Thanks a bunch!

Honestly, it's probably best to replace nearly everything except for your case and storage. Your CPU and motherboard need to go, and your GPU is lagging behind the latest options. If you're thinking about a budget, around $2,000 could get you a solid upgrade.

I figured! GPU prices are a bit crazy right now, but I might try to stick around that budget.

Consider getting an MSI B760m motherboard, an Intel i5-12600KF CPU, and a new GPU like the 9060XT. You can reuse a lot from your current setup and sell off the old components to ease the upgrade cost.

Thanks for the tips! Quick question—if I get a DDR4 motherboard, will I be stuck using DDR4 RAM, or can I go for a DDR5 one instead?

For gaming at 1440p ultra-wide, you might need to consider a whole new build. Your current CPU is definitely outdated, and the graphics card is not going to keep up with newer games. How much are you looking to spend on the upgrade?

Yeah, I kinda expected that. The monitor and GPU were gifted to me, so I'm cool with investing in a complete refresh.
