High Idle Temps on My New 9600X Build – What’s Normal?

I've just built a new system, but I'm struggling with high idle temperatures. Here's what I'm seeing: my CPU sits at about 50°C when idle and goes up to 55°C during gaming. Under stress tests with OCCT, it spikes to 80°C, and my room temperature is around 25°C.

Here's the rundown of my build:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X
- Thermal Paste: Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut
- Cooler: Thermalright Aqua Elite 240 AIO
- Motherboard: GIGABYTE B850M AORUS Elite
- RAM: Silicon Power DDR5 32GB
- GPU: GIGABYTE AERO GeForce RTX 5070
- PSU: GAMEMAX 850W 80 Plus Gold
- Case: DIYPC ARGB-Q3.R2-W

I've tried numerous things to lower these temps, including reseating and rotating the CPU block, adjusting the thermal grease application, changing the radiator's position, swapping fan configurations, maxing out pump speeds, and tweaking various power settings. Despite these efforts, my idle temps are still high, and only a couple of adjustments made the fans excessively loud. I'm looking for any advice on how to tackle this issue.

Those temperatures are actually pretty standard. Also, keep in mind that 240mm AIO coolers may not be as effective as good air coolers. Many high-quality air coolers outperform even the best 240mm AIOs.

Got any suggestions for a quiet air cooler? I picked the AIO for its low noise.

AMD chips do tend to run a bit hotter at idle than Intel ones, sitting around 40-50°C is not unusual for them. The load temperatures are what really count, and 80°C is generally acceptable for stress tests.

I'm just a bit worried about the longevity of the components since I like to keep my gaming rigs for a long time.

Honestly, your idle temps are on the higher side, but your other readings are fine. 55°C while gaming is totally normal. You might be overthinking it a bit!

Thanks, I appreciate the reassurance!
