Hey everyone! I'm currently using Windows 11 and I'm interested in exploring Linux before making the switch. I'd like to know what virtual machine (VM) software and Linux distribution (distro) would be ideal for a beginner like me. I'm not looking to run anything resource-heavy since I can't test it on another computer. My specs are as follows: AMD Ryzen 5800H, GeForce RTX 3070, 16 GB RAM, and a 1 TB NVMe SSD. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve really enjoyed using CachyOS. Before that, I was on Garuda, and both are based on Arch. The gaming experience with Steam has been great on these. You can easily run either as a VM and still have a smooth experience!

I don’t have much to compare it to, but I’ve liked CachyOS too! It feels beginner-friendly while still being powerful. The setup was easy, and it has great bundles for gaming. Plus, since it’s based on Arch, you get access to the AUR, which is amazing for customization!
