Hey everyone, I just graduated with a CS degree, but to be honest, I didn't really dive deep into coding while in school—just passed my exams in Java. Somehow, I secured a job and I'm waiting for my joining letter right now. With some free time on my hands, I want to actually invest in learning to code properly this time around.
During my final year project, I played around with some HTML/CSS, which I really enjoyed, and I'm considering a path in web development. But I've noticed all this talk about AI taking over and I'm starting to doubt if that's a wise decision.
So, here's where I need your advice:
1. If you had 3-4 months to learn something before your job started, what would it be?
2. Should I focus on mastering Java, or should I explore other areas?
3. Is web development still a viable option, or should I look into fields like cloud computing or data science instead?
I really want to use this time effectively instead of wasting it like I did in college!

Definitely check out your job description! Learning the skills listed there can give you a great head start. If you see specific technologies or languages mentioned, focus on those. If you're looking for something broader, learning web development is pretty accessible and fun! Also, even if AI can handle some tasks, having a solid foundation in coding is still super valuable.
Thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely review the job details closely. What else do you think would be good to prioritize after I start?
