Hi everyone! We're a group of high school students working on our capstone project in web development. With our beginner skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, we're aiming to create something practical and real—either by solving a problem or improving an existing system in a small but impactful way.
Currently, we're exploring a cybersecurity-themed project. We want to build a third-party component that helps organizations, like local governments, protect personal data such as digital medical records. The idea is to create a reusable tool that enhances safety for actions like data input and form processing.
However, we're limited to front-end development, and we're unsure about how to present this idea convincingly without a back end. We need suggestions on how to visually represent features related to security in a way that feels genuine, even if it's just a concept demo.
Additionally, we're looking for other realistic project ideas for beginner developers that could be meaningful, whether in web apps, dashboards, or digital tools for specific groups. We hope to build something useful and understanding within our skillset. Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your help!

Have you considered using a public API to create a health form? You could show off your front-end skills by blurring out sensitive details, like passwords, once filled in. For example, you might utilize openmrs for getting forms data and implement text masking for added security demonstration.
Why not use AI to find recent issues that could be resolved with simple tools? It can really help you brainstorm relevant project ideas. If done right, you’ll uncover plenty of meaningful projects that align with your tech abilities!
Thanks for the suggestion! I actually tried that route and got a lot of helpful results. Using those as a base, I added my own cybersecurity angle which really helped flesh out the concept.
