Is an Upgrade Necessary for Gaming at 1440p 200Hz?

I'm considering upgrading my gaming setup for better performance at 1440p and 200Hz. Currently, I have an i3 10100F CPU, a GTX 1070 GPU, and 16GB of DDR4 RAM, which I'm planning to upgrade alongside other new components. I mostly play Minecraft (with shaders and mods), CS2, and Valorant, mainly focusing on older titles. I'm thinking about getting an RTX 2080ti and a Ryzen 5700x3D for the best performance, but I'm also looking at more budget-friendly options like the RTX 2070 and Ryzen 5500 or 5700x. Do I really need to go for the high-end options to reach those settings, or can I save some money and still get good performance? I'm looking to spend around £400-500 on used parts.

I recently upgraded from an i5 9400f and RX 5700XT to a Ryzen 7 5800x3d and RX 7900 GRE, paired with a 1440p 240Hz monitor, and the difference in quality and frame rates is amazing. If you can swing it, it's worth it!

To hit that 1440p 200Hz target, you definitely need to consider upgrading your CPU and RAM. You could go for an AM5 platform for about £380, but I recommend sticking with AM4. You can save some cash and still make a solid upgrade with a used RX 6700XT or 6750XT alongside a decent Ryzen CPU. Check these links for some budget builds!

Thanks for the suggestions! I prefer the AM4 route too. Between the RX 6700 and 6750, what's the real difference in performance? Is it worth spending more for the 6750?

You might not need to go for the 2080 ti; its performance is roughly similar to that of a 3060 ti, which may not get you to 1440p at 240Hz. Consider what you really want from your upgrade.
