I'm building a PC and decided to go with the 5070ti, aiming for both gaming and productivity. While I've heard that the Ryzen 7700x, 7800x, and the X3D versions are solid pairs with the 5070ti, my concern is choosing a CPU that can handle heavy workloads like 3D modeling, video editing (especially After Effects), and music production. Many folks have suggested a 12th or 13th gen i7 for these tasks. Can someone recommend a CPU that won't bottleneck my 5070ti at 1080p during gaming while staying budget-friendly? Just a heads up, I can't really specify a budget due to inflated prices here where I live, but my build is currently around $1900.

It really depends on your budget. For mixed-use scenarios, I’d say the X CPUs are more versatile than the X3D ones, especially for your needs.
You can't go wrong with the Ryzen 7700X or even the 9700X. They’re great for both gaming and productivity!
I’d suggest going for the Ryzen 9 9950x3d. Just remember, the term 'bottleneck' gets thrown around way too much! Every PC has some form of bottleneck, but it usually doesn’t cause major issues. If you're worried about limiting your build, definitely look into the Ryzen 9 options. They’re a bit pricey, though, so consider your budget!
Got it! I’ve never built a PC before, so the idea of bottlenecking makes me nervous. I’ll check out the Ryzen 9 series, but I really want something as good as the i7-12700k or i7-13700k if it fits my budget.
I have to ask, why choose the 5070ti if you're gaming at 1080p? That seems a bit overkill.
Good question! I only have a 1080p monitor right now, but the GPU is also for work tasks that require a strong graphics card. Plus, for games that support supersampling, I can upscale to 1440p, which is nice!
Are you leaning more towards gaming or productivity with your build?
It’s a mix, honestly! I game quite a bit, but I also do a lot of video, photo editing, 3D projects, and music production. I also have a PS5, so I could balance the gaming between the two devices. If there's a CPU good for productivity, even if it’s slightly less for gaming, I’m open to that.
Are the X variants more powerful in terms of cores than the X3D versions?
