I recently bought an iPad to use for drawing and as a laptop substitute. Since I haven't owned any Apple products in years, I went to sign into my Apple account during the setup. I entered my username and password without any issues. However, the device wanted to send a verification code to my old phone number, which I no longer have access to. It then prompted me to enter that old number again and provided no option to receive the code on my new phone. Now, I'm stuck waiting for 24 hours without being able to install apps like Procreate, which is super frustrating! I don't want to create a new account since I might lose app purchases and my iCloud photos. Is there any way to solve this?
UPDATE: After waiting the 24 hours, Apple informed me that I now need to wait a full week to receive a text on my new number to regain access to my account. This feels like such a terrible system!

I get why you're upset, but honestly, it’s a security measure. If they allowed account recovery too easily, anyone could mess with your info. It’s a hassle, but it’s for protecting your account. Just wait it out—hopefully, it'll be worth it when you finally get full access!
Ugh, I feel you! It's really frustrating when they make you wait like that. It seems like Apple is punishing you just for not being in their ecosystem all this time. You've got the iPad and the right login info but can’t do anything with it. It's ridiculous. Just hang in there; hopefully, the week will go by fast!
Exactly! It's like we pay all this money for their products, and then we get hit by all these roadblocks when we try to come back. I'm hoping Apple can figure out a better way to handle account recovery.
I understand that, but it feels so tough when I can verify my identity with other info and still can't access my stuff. A week with a new device and nothing to show for it is just hard to swallow.
