I recently got an ASUS WiFi 7 router and I'm wondering if I can connect it to my existing ISP modem/router setup. If it's possible, what would be the best way to connect them? Any help would be appreciated!

You can also put your ISP’s modem/router in bridge mode and just use it as a modem. After that, connect your ASUS router and use it as the main router. This way, you avoid the whole subnet problem. It makes everything a lot simpler!

Great, thanks! One last thing, can I have multiple profiles for the router? If there's only one, can I set up my own and remove my relative's when I move out?

Yes, you can definitely connect your new router! Just connect the WAN port of your ASUS router to one of the LAN ports on your ISP's router. But you might run into issues if both routers are on the same IP subnet (like 192.168.0.x). You’d either need to change one of them to a different subnet or, even better, call your ISP and ask them to switch your router to bridge mode. This will eliminate any conflicts and make sure everything runs smoothly, especially for things like gaming that need port forwarding. It's the best way to go!

Thanks for the info! Since I live with a relative, could they set up an account for the router? And can I take over when I move out by creating my own account?

If you're having trouble with port forwarding, there's a good wiki article that might help. Just search for port forwards and you should find it!
