I'm looking for some feedback on my planned PC build to upgrade from my current system, which is about 10 years old. I've already upgraded the video card from a 1080 to a 2080 Ti and boosted my RAM to 32GB, but everything else has remained the same. Now, I'm aiming to build a new system that will serve me well for gaming (both single and multiplayer) at 1440p, 3D printing file editing, running a Plex server, light VR with an Index, and general office tasks. My budget is around $3,000, though I'm open to spending a bit more for a significant performance boost. I'd like this new setup to last for 2-3 generations without many upgrades. I'm curious about the parts I've picked out (which I selected based on performance reviews and manufacturer reputation), particularly the memory specs and if there's anything that stands out as a poor choice or something that I may have overlooked while researching. I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts ASAP since I plan to order the components soon and build this weekend!

Your Ryzen 9 9950X3D is a powerhouse, but honestly, you might not need that much CPU for your needs. A 9800X3D could save you some cash, which you could redirect towards a better GPU, especially for gaming. Also, consider a separate build for your Plex server—something with an Intel CPU for Quicksync would be energy efficient compared to running a heavy gaming rig 24/7. Good luck with your build!
You might want to consider an NVIDIA GPU instead of the AMD. Features like DLSS and Frame Generation are super helpful and becoming more relevant in games. While AMD has made strides, NVIDIA typically leads in performance features. Have you thought about going with something like a 5070 Ti?
I was actually looking at the 5070 Ti as an alternative. My thinking was that it might be comparable to the 9070 XT performance-wise, and since I'm going all AMD, I'd have fewer compatibility issues. What do you think about that for future games?
Thanks for the tip! I can definitely reconsider the CPU. I'll look into the 9800X3D. And repurposing my old rig for the Plex server sounds like a solid plan!
