Is My First PC Build Ready for 1440p Gaming?

Hey everyone! I'm planning to build my first PC and I'm upgrading from a 7-year-old Dell laptop. I'm aiming for 1440p gaming, specifically with a Koorui 24" monitor in mind, priced around 40 euros. I'm looking at adding either the 9070 XT or the 5060 Ti, both currently priced around 600 euros but I've noticed a 33% price increase recently. My plan is to eventually upgrade both the CPU and GPU in the next couple of years. I'll be playing games like Civilization, Factorio, Stellaris, as well as AAA titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, various FromSoftware games, Marvel's Spider-Man, and Forza Horizon, along with Battlefield 1 and the upcoming Battlefield 6. I might also dip my toes into some 3D modeling. Do you think the CPU I've picked is sufficient? Are there potential issues with the parts I selected? How about the motherboard – will it support future upgrades for AM5? Is there anything I should double-check before finalizing my purchase? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Your CPU should be fine for your intended use, just make sure to keep one thing in mind. As for the motherboard, while the B850 is generally expected to support future AM5 CPUs with possible BIOS updates, there’s always a slight uncertainty with future tech compatibility. If 3D modeling becomes a key part of your plans, check out Puget Systems for some hardware recommendations tailored to modeling apps. They have some nice tips on hardware based on what you might use. Also, consider getting a CPU with an integrated GPU like the 7600 or 9600X – they save you from headaches if there are any issues during your build with the dedicated GPU. For cooling, a simpler tower cooler could work just as well and save you some cash. Lastly, for storage, I’d recommend at least a 2TB SSD; 1TB can fill up fast with AAA games!

Thanks for the tips! If I budget an extra 100-150 euros, which parts would you recommend upgrading? Would you prioritize the motherboard, CPU, or GPU?

Sure! For the extra budget, I’d suggest considering the motherboard and CPU upgrades first – possibly step up to the 7600X over the 7500F for better performance. The GPU upgrade could focus on the best value for the performance you’ll get.

With that setup, you should expect around 75-80 FPS on ultra settings in AAA games like Spider-Man and RDR2; it’ll do great for your needs!

Is that performance expected at ultra settings? Curious if I need to adjust things for better frame rates.
