Will my 1070 Ti hold back my Ryzen 5 7500F?

Hey everyone! I'm planning an upgrade and will be switching to a Ryzen 5 7500F and a B650 motherboard, along with CL30 6000MHz DDR5 RAM. I currently run a 1070 Ti GPU, and I'm wondering if it'll bottleneck the CPU during gaming, especially since I mostly game at 1080p60. Can someone help me understand if the 1070 Ti will limit the performance of my new setup?

Yes, the 1070 Ti is quite old now, so it might struggle to keep up with more demanding games. Just keep in mind that it's not going to affect the clock speeds of your CPU or other components. It just means that in games that require more power than the 1070 Ti can provide, you could experience reduced performance.

Not a silly question at all! Just remember, you want your GPU to reach its limits in gaming because then it means your system is optimized correctly. Your CPU will be fine performance-wise as long as the GPU doesn't fall too far behind what you need for gaming.

By the way, how's your current setup? What CPU and motherboard are you using right now? This might give more context to how your upgrade will perform!

The GPU will definitely be the limiting factor in gaming situations, but that's how you want it to be for your setup! Your CPU performance won't drop because of the GPU. If your games are not overly demanding, the GPU won't hold you back too much, unless you think about running more demanding titles later.

Bottlenecks usually play out with the GPU hitting its limits, while the CPU can still perform at its best. The 1070 Ti will limit how well your games run, particularly at 1080p, but it won't affect your CPU's clock speeds for tasks that don't use the GPU much. You might want to think about getting a higher resolution monitor in the future for an upgrade path!
