I'm looking to upgrade my PC case to help prevent cat hair from accumulating inside, especially since I have a long-haired cat. My current setup has a lot of hair buildup at the bottom, right by the PSU. I'm curious to know which cases are effective at minimizing this issue or if there are any other strategies I could try. I was considering a sideways PSU to monitor hair accumulation, but that would require time to see results.
Right now, my CPU is hitting temperatures of 80-90°C while gaming in 'MH Wilds', with my GPU at 63°C and junction temperature at 74°C. I'm also planning to replace my 240mm cooler with a 360mm, which is another reason for wanting to change cases. Here are my component specifics to fit:
- CPU: i7-13700KF
- Motherboard: Asus B760M-AYW WiFi (MATX)
- GPU: Gigabyte 4070 Super
- Current Case: Segostep (240mm AIO)
- PSU: 850W (I might need a new one due to some noise)
The Lian Li A3 has caught my eye, but I prioritize functionality over aesthetics. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I've experienced this with my cats too. If you're handy, mounting your PC higher on a shelf can keep it out of reach of fur. Dust filters work well, but elevation has been my best fix.
You can flip your PSU upside down to draw air from inside the case, which might help with hair accumulation if your case allows it. Just make sure that it’s ventilated properly!
That sounds interesting! Would I need to manage the cables if I flip it?
The best answer is to keep cleaning your room regularly and maintaining the dust filters, especially in high-animal areas. Also, make sure your BIOS is updated; unoptimized settings can drive CPU temperatures up too!
Having good dust filters on your intake fans makes a big difference. Plus, ensure your PSU has a filter too, because you definitely don’t want cat hair getting in there! I've dealt with the same issue, and it's a pain, but filters help a ton!
I have a filter, but it’s on the bottom where the PSU is, and I'm worried about hair buildup there. Last week it made a loud noise, and I had to clean it out. Do you think it’s time to get a new PSU?
My PC’s on a standing desk, so that might complicate wall mounting. I think replacing the case is probably easier.
